Good morning everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! As it gets closer to the holidays I like most people get the overpowering urge to get in the kitchen! About 4ish years ago my daughter had a project for school that we decided to make cookies for. Fast forward to 2018, we are still making cookies, although I will admit they look and taste better these days. You might be asking yourself what in the world do cookies have to do with a Chefman Food Dehydrator? I know, most NORMAL people use a dehydrator to preserve meats, fruits, and vegetables. I'm never claimed to be this normal person.
A dehydrator is an appliance that uses warm, moving air to remove moisture from the food that is placed inside it. In the cookie world using a dehydrator for decorated cookies is all the rage these days and there is a good reason for that! A little none technical science for you guys. if you put a moving air source (what a dehydrator does) across the top of the royal icing while it is drying, the icing will dry SHINY. Second, the gently heated air helps the icing dry quicker thus reducing craters, color bleed, and allowing you to move on to the next step in decorating much MUCH faster. Normally it takes DAYS for royal icing to dry depending on the thickness. I usually leave my cookies in the dehydrator after they are done for storage until I am ready to page them. The trays in this model are completely level and slide in and out easily with only one hand. The front door of the dehydrator can be removed completely, which is very convenient when you are doing a ton of cookies and pulling the trays in and out over and over again. There is also tons of clearance room between the trays for thicker cookies or any other item you need to place inside. Need more info on why I love my Chefman Food Dehydrator?
